TEF Project Success: Students Awarded for Culinary and Sustainable Tourism Achievements

The Tourism Education Future (TEF) project is entering its final phase. On Friday, May 31, 2024, IUS Life, a project partner, awarded certificates and gifts to the students who participated in two competitions as part of this project at the High School of Catering and Tourism.

This was an opportunity to reflect on the TEF Blended Skills Competition, held in Fatima, Portugal, where the three-member team from the school achieved significant success. Elma Hodžić, the contestant who made the most impressive mark in the TEF project, prepared a creative and delicious dessert called the Canolli Candel of Fatíma. She presented the recipe and her innovative approach to making this sweet delicacy.

TEF Online Triplicity Contest contestants Ilma Mutapčić, Sara Muzaferija, and Iman Bašić were also awarded certificates for their outstanding teamwork. Within this project, students from Greece, Portugal, and Bosnia and Herzegovina competed to present a sustainable short trip in three cities: Kalamata, Sarajevo, and Fatima.

The student contestants shared their experiences, from initially knowing nothing about the city of Kalamata to creating a very creative and informative presentation that won them second place in peer-to-peer voting.

The event was also attended by IUS Erasmus Buddies from the school, including Selma Jašarević, Hamza Kurtović, and again Ilma Mutapčić, who spoke about volunteering and what it was like to help students from Italy during their internship in Sarajevo.

IUS Life extends its gratitude to the school director, Bahra Pašić, Professor Anisa Bidžević, and all the students and teachers for their support and cooperation in the implementation of TEF project activities.

Founded in 1956, the High School of Catering and Tourism Sarajevo is a place where students excel in culinary and service arts, and where gourmets delight in creative, flavorful, and visually stunning traditional and international cuisine. Thanks to the TEF project, we have discovered incredibly creative young people, true promoters of our culinary arts, and future professional tourism workers.
