International University of Sarajevo (IUS) and Sağlık Bilimleri Üniversitesi (University of Health Sciences) from Istanbul, Turkey, renewed the existing memorandum of understanding (MoU) on Monday March 11, 2024. The new agreement was signed by the President of the IUS Board of Trustees prof. Dr. Sevgi Kurtulmuş and the Rector of the Sağlık Bilimleri Üniversitesi Prof. Dr. Kemalettin Aydın. This significant agreement aims to foster academic and educational cooperation between the two institutions, promoting direct interaction among faculty, students, and staff to facilitate the exchange of academic and cultural experiences.
The primary objective of this MoU is to continue the framework of mutual collaboration, facilitating various avenues for academic engagement and partnership. With this formal agreement, both universities aspire to create a platform for enhancing educational opportunities and scholarly endeavors.
The scope of collaboration outlined in the MoU encompasses a wide array of activities aimed at enriching the academic landscape of both institutions. One of the key areas of focus is the promotion of non-degree academic study, allowing students to explore interdisciplinary subjects and expand their knowledge base beyond conventional boundaries.
Moreover, the agreement facilitates student exchange programs, enabling learners to immerse themselves in diverse cultural environments and gain valuable insights from international perspectives. Additionally, both universities will collaborate on developing specially designed programs for studying abroad, providing students with unique opportunities to engage in global learning experiences.
In addition to student-focused initiatives, the MoU also underscores the importance of academic research collaboration. Faculty members from both institutions will have the opportunity to engage in joint research activities, fostering innovation and knowledge exchange in various fields of study.
Furthermore, the agreement promotes the exchange of non-proprietary information such as library resources and research publications, enhancing access to valuable academic resources for faculty and students. Collaboration in continuing education and training programs will also be facilitated, allowing for the development of specialized skills and expertise.
The MoU also paves the way for the organization of lectures, international meetings, joint conferences, and workshops, providing a platform for scholarly discourse and networking opportunities. Moreover, credit transfers and the development of joint and dual degree programs will enable students to pursue academic pathways that align with their career aspirations.
In fields where practical experience is paramount, such as medicine and dentistry, the agreement facilitates the exchange of academicians to work in laboratories and organize short-term practice sessions, enriching the educational experience and preparing students for real-world challenges.
As the partnership between International University of Sarajevo and Sağlık Bilimleri Üniversitesi continues to evolve, it is expected to yield fruitful results, enriching the academic experiences of students and faculty alike while fostering greater international collaboration in education and research.
