International University of Sarajevo (IUS) in cooperation with Svjedoci vremena organization, organized a "Sarajevo-Çanakkale March in the Footsteps of Our Ancestors" in memory of 30,000 volunteers who left Bosnia and Herzegovina and other Balkan countries and took part in the battle of Çanakkale 107 years ago. March started by paying respect and visiting the grave of Bosnia and Herzegovina's first president, Alija Izetbegović.

Members of the group distributed the work about the Çanakkale epic prepared by the Yunus Emre Institute to the public during the march. Afterwards, the group visited the monument created in memory of children killed under siege in Sarajevo, and continued their journey to Novi Pazar, a symbolic place where the volunteer soldiers gathered 107 years ago.

Assistant Professor Abdulhamit Bolat, MA from the International University of Sarajevo, pointed out that the march was held with the aim of strengthening the ties of the fraternity that have been forgotten or weakened over time. The main purpose of the march is to remind once again that Turkiye is not limited to its current land borders and to strengthen ties again with the local people.

107th Çanakkale Land Battles Commemoration Program will be held on April 25, 2022.
