International University of Sarajevo (IUS) opened its doors to welcome a fresh cohort of academic staff members on Thursday, October 5, 2023. An Orientation Meeting, designed to ensure a seamless transition for the newly hired full-time and part-time academic staff into the vibrant IUS community marked the beginning of a promising journey for both the university and its new faculty members. The meeting was a comprehensive introduction to the inner workings of the university, covering an array of essential topics.
The event commenced with a whole-hearted welcome extended on behalf of IUS by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Kanita Karađuzović-Hadžiabdić, Vice-Rector for International Cooperation and Research. Mr. Haris Jamaković, HR Manager at IUS, followed with a concise overview of information related to human resources matters and the necessary documentation. This provided the academic staff with a clear understanding of the administrative aspects of their roles. Mr. Enes Pivić, IT Centre Director, took the stage next, providing a brief yet insightful look into the available IT infrastructure and pledging full IT assistance to support the new staff in their technological needs. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Kanita Karađuzović-Hadžiabdić returned to the stage to deliver an in-depth presentation on the teaching process at IUS. This encompassed crucial aspects such as syllabus requirements, the structure of the 15-week semester, attendance policies, archiving practices, and the significance of various documents. Mrs. Sabiha Pepić-Inal, the Student Affairs Office Manager, provided an overview of the Student Information System and its requirements. This knowledge is essential for academic staff members to navigate their roles effectively. Finally, Mrs. Velida Handžić-Mirica, University Communications Office Manager, offered insights into IUS communication channels and shared valuable information on event organization procedures. This was a vital introduction to the means through which staff can stay connected and engaged within the IUS community.
The informative session concluded with a campus tour, during which the new staff had the opportunity to explore and familiarize themselves with the impressive array of campus facilities. From well-equipped libraries to state-of-the-art laboratories, the tour showcased the resources available to support academic excellence at IUS.
