The International University of Sarajevo (IUS) successfully wrapped up this year’s Freshman Orientation Week, held from September 23-27, 2024. Organized annually, the orientation week provides full support to new IUS students, ensuring a smooth transition to university life as they begin their academic journey.
On September 23-24, Orientation Meetings were held for new English Language School (ELS) students. Ms. Mehtap Özer Isović from the Student Success Office provided a detailed overview of the ELS program, its requirements, and what students can expect at each level of English language learning. Additionally, Mr. Halil İbrahim Şahin from the Student and Career Center (SCC) introduced students to the campus facilities and provided essential information about Sarajevo, including public transportation and popular tourist spots.
From September 25-27, faculty-specific orientations were organized. Each day focused on a different faculty, with IUS Rector Prof. Dr. Ahmet Yıldırım welcoming the new students. On September 25, the Faculty of Engineering and Natural Sciences (FENS) held its session, where Vice-Rector Assoc. Dr. Tarik Namas, FENS Dean Assoc. Prof. Dr. Altijana Hromić-Jahjefendić, and Program Coordinators provided insights into the faculty’s study programs.
The next day, September 26, freshmen from the Faculty of Business Administration (FBA) and the Faculty of Law (FLW) were welcomed by IUS Vice-Rector for International Cooperation and Research, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Kanita Karađuzović-Hadžiabdić, FLW Dean Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ena Kazić-Çakar, FBA Dean Assoc. Prof. Dr. Emil Knezović, and Program Coordinators who presented the study programs of both faculties.
Friday, September 27, was dedicated to the freshmen of the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences (FASS) and the Faculty of Education (FEDU). They were greeted by IUS Vice-Rector for General Affairs, Assoc. Prof. Muhammed Yasir Göz, FASS Vice-Dean, Asst. Prof. Dr. Emir Hambo, FEDU Dean, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Almasa Mulalić, and Program Coordinators, who presented their respective study programs offering students a glimpse into their studies.
Throughout the week, students were introduced to important IUS offices, including the Student Affairs Office, International Relations Office, and the Student and Career Center. The orientation concluded with campus tours, familiarizing the freshmen with key facilities related to their study programs.
