Mr. Özgen was welcomed by the IUS Rector Prof. Dr. Ahmet Yıldırım. The topic of the meeting was higher education and research in Bosnia and Herzegovina and Turkey. Mr. Yıldırım explained what it is like to run a university in Bosnia and Herzegovina and what it takes to make a rather young and small university a center of quality education and research development in this part of Europe. He emphasized that for IUS quality is of utmost importance and pointed out that the IUS Quality Assurance Office (QAO) works hard to satisfy the highest standards when it comes to IUS syllabi and curricula.
Mr. Özgen presented Atatürk Research Center and its focal operations: offering good conditions to researchers and academics to conduct quality research. He acknowledged the importance of quality education and research development for the future of every country. Mr. Özgen mentioned that the Center has departments of history, linguistics, social sciences, etc. and added that the foundation behind the Center provides scholarships to postgraduate and doctoral students in order to encourage young scientists to pursue their quest for knowledge.
Since IUS and the Center are two institutions with similar goals, the IUS Rector Prof. Dr. Ahmet Yıldırım and Dr. Yüksel Özgen agreed on establishing future cooperation which would benefit the academics of both institutions.
In the end, the IUS Rector presented Mr. Özgen with a token of appreciation with good wishes to foster successful cooperation.
