Highlights from the Erasmus+ Staff Week at IUS

The International University of Sarajevo (IUS) recently concluded an engaging and enriching Erasmus+ Staff Week organized by the IUS International Relations Office (IRO), welcoming esteemed guests from various institutions to explore collaborative opportunities and exchange insights. From April 22 to April 26, 2024, the campus buzzed with activities aimed at fostering academic cooperation and cultural exchange.

The week commenced with a warm welcome from the IUS Vice-Rector for International Cooperation and Research, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Kanita Karađuzović-Hadžiabdić, setting the tone for a series of insightful sessions. Additionally, Ms. Valida Mechri, Head of International Relations Office at Groupe IGS, France, presented on "Blended Intensive Programs" as a novel approach to student and staff mobilities, sparking discussions on innovative educational practices. The attendees were introduced to the linguistic richness of the country through a Bosnian Language Crash Course.

The "Colleague to Colleagues" activity held on Tuesday facilitated fruitful discussions and exchanges as guests visited corresponding host faculty programs and administrative departments. This interactive session allowed for meaningful dialogues and knowledge sharing.

On Wednesday, Mr. Suad Muhibić, Head of the National Erasmus Office, delivered an insightful presentation on the "New Erasmus Era in Bosnia and Herzegovina," shedding light on exciting prospects for international collaboration. Moreover, two IUS Erasmus alumni shared their transformative experiences, offering firsthand accounts of the program's impact on their academic and personal growth.

The participants had an opportunity to not only explore IUS Campus and the city of Sarajevo but visit the cities of Mostar and Blagaj as well, immersing themselves in the rich culture of Bosnia and Herzegovina. The excursions provided a glimpse into the country's diverse landscapes and historical landmarks, further enriching the cultural exchange experience.

The week culminated in a festive closing ceremony on Friday, where attendees received certificates of participation and reflected on their memorable experiences at IUS and in Bosnia and Herzegovina. A heartfelt video presentation captured the highlights of the week, accompanied by a final conversation where guests expressed their appreciation for the warm hospitality and valuable insights gained during their visit.
