During the opening ceremony attended by the Turkish Ambassador to Bosnia and Herzegovina, Mr. Sadık Babür Girgin, IUS Rector, Prof. Dr. Ahmet Yıldırım addressed the attendees and pointed out the significance of the victory at Çanakkale due to the fact that the world powers at the time were united in “erasing the Turkish nation from history”.

Assistant Professor Dr. Jahja Muhasilović highlighted that the naval battle at Çanakkale should be seen from a perspective of its importance today, as well as its historical and geopolitical implication. Dr. Mustafa Krupalija said that due to its historical connotation, the battle at Çanakkale is an event that still carries significance in modern times..

In Europe, the battle at Çanakkale is known as the Gallipoli Campaign and it was one of the bloodiest and most violent battles in the First World War, and, according to certain indicators, in history in general. The naval battle which was led between November 3, 1914 and March 18, 1915 at Gallipoli, and the land battle at Gallipoli led between April 25, 1915 and January 9, 1916 are the most significant battles in Turkish history and the history of all Muslim nations in this part of the world.
